Homing a Greyhound from Perry Barr Greyhound Trust

By now, you have probably seen some dogs on our re homing pages and have fallen in love with a couple and are ready to take the next step. 'But what do I do next?' I hear you asking. Below is a step by step guide to homing a greyhound from Perry Barr Trust.

Step One -

Contact Ruth ( 0121 782 7702) and she will arrange a time for one of our volunteers to come and do a home visit .

The home visit is a chance for you to ask any questions you may have about homing a greyhound . At the home visit you will be asked to answer a preset questionnaire about you and your home. Don't worry, we are not after your bank details and the family silver hiding place! - we just ask questions to ensure the dog will be going into a home where all the required Retired Greyhound Trust criteria are met, for instance if you are a single person living on the fifteenth floor of a block of flats in Birmingham city centre working twelve hour shifts, seven days a week, then maybe a dog is not for you! Obviously this is a ridiculous scenario but you get the gist of why the questions are needed.

Step Two -

If you have satisfied the requirements you will receive a call from Pam or one of our volunteers and it's all systems go! You can arrange a time to see some of the dogs available for rehoming .

Step Three -

When you have chosen a dog all the relevant paperwork can be filled in and you can take your new companion home with you.

So, as you can see it's as easy as One, Two, Three. (Hmmm don't know about that last bit it sounds a little corny)

Now here's the good news, all greyhounds homed by Perry Barr Trust come with six weeks' free pet insurance, a collar , lead and muzzle and are fully vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and neutered. We also have greyhound coats, bowls and other items available for sale - all profit goes directly back to the Trust.
