Remember to clean paws when the gritters are out!

by SamA

07-Dec-2017

Just a reminder as the weather is set to go cold again, to be aware about the potential danger of pets ingesting the anti freeze used in road grit/salt. During these nasty weather conditions, this article advises the risks. Please clean your dogs/cats paws after they have been out if there is any chance they have walked through road grit. Daily Mail Article. Though the article is a bit old - its still useful information.

Thanks to Kate for reminding me about this today, there are chemicals in the grit that if ingested can cause serious harm to your dogs or cats. So please remember to clean paws after walking when there is grit about.

This is something I always forget about...many thanks for the reminder. I will be wiping Twiggy's paws after every walk. Wishing Ruth and the team well in this dreadful weather. Keep safe everyone, hounds and humans. xxxx

Thanks to Jane for posting this on the facebook site. Thought it best to mention here as well so as many people as possible see the message to take care while the roads are heavily gritted. Thanks. Sam
