Suitable Holiday Cottages etc for Greyhound Holidays

by PamD

After many enquiries I have  put together a directory of suitable places where we can go on holiday and take our greys.

If you have been on holiday and would like to recommend the  holiday home you have stayed in please e-mail me  with all details:  walks secure garden etc.

The holiday homes should ideally have a secure garden and be very dog friendly, or a good dog friendly B & B or hotel.

you can also add your holiday recommendations to this thread

If you would like a copy of our holiday homes directory please e-mail me as above our directory is growing.

We always book with we take jet twice a year and always had fabulous cottages and reasonably priced. We're going to Devon mid October so pooch has got to get his case ready! We were going Friday 5th october for the week but changed our plans as jet had something far more important to attend on the 7th at Solihull. ..wonder what that could be??!! Xxx

Wednesday 19 Sep 19:29 Near Bude and the North Cornwall coast. Loads of great dog friendly beaches - I believe that this year’s DB calendar includes a picture of Casey on the glorious Sandymouth beach, 10 min drive away.
South Forda is dog friendly, has great walks within it’s grounds and lovely owners have a whippet. We’ve been twice and highly recommend it.

We have stayed at Sandpiper cottage in Amble, Northumberland twice with our Grey. Dogs can be left alone in the cottage should you choose to do so and the kitchen area with a tiled floor can be closed off. Our Grey at the time was getting on in years and really appreciated the wide shallow stairs to get to the bedrooms. The yard is paved and only small but is enclosed. There's a large grassy area within a 3 minute walk where dogs can be exercised on or off the lead. The cottage next door - Seashell belongs to the same people and also takes pets. The Harbour Inn across the road allows well behaved dogs in the bar, and the fish and chip shop served the best we've ever had... Flynn (late & much lamented greyhound) insisted on returning just for the battered black pudding! :-)

Just got back from Whitsand Bay Holiday Park in Rame Peninsular Cornwall. I don't have greyhounds, but the site was really dog friendly. There are basic chalets available and really nice lodges. We paid £5 per dog for the week but we were camping .

Right by a sandy beach (and close enough to get to Brighton in 1.5 hours) is Winchelsea Sands Holiday Park. We are renting property ref: 1014 via Direct Holiday Homes. Pets allowed (of course). It's a 2-bedroom, 7 sleeper caravan with additional on-site facilities. Us and the boys will be enjoying fish and chips from the fishing town just down the road! (Don't worry Ruth, the boys will only be getting two tiny chips each, honest!). - in this case there is no enclosed area but the prices are exceptionally good. Spaces left from 17th September for just £200 a week.

Park Resorts let you take upto 2 dogs, you have to pay £30 per dog for a 4night stay £50 per dog for 7night stay. You also have to stay in the Bronze Caravan. They have many sites around the country. You don't have to inform them you are taking your dog either until about a week before. The bonus of booking with Park Resorts is that if you save your Tesco Clubcard Vouchers you can exchange them against your holiday, plus you get 3 x the value of the vouchers so if you have say £50 worth of vouchers they are worth £150 towards the cost of the caravan! So get saving!
